Tipping London Bus

Old London Bus - Routemaster Bus

The London Routemaster Bus is an iconic rear-entry London Bus that has now been retired.  It was an icon! The first prototype was completed in September 1954 and the last one was delivered in 1968.

These buses bring back fond memories as we had used them extensively when we were living in London almost 2 decades ago.  They were certainly well built, having been in service for so many years.

It was an open door concept.  You could get off and on almost anywhere, even while the bus was in motion! (Highly dangerous though...)

Found this old picture - fascinating! I assume that the manufacturer was trying to prove that the bus wouldn't topple.  Rather impressive experiment, is it not?

These are the very modern London buses.  The design is much more conventional, with separate entry and exit doors.

In my blog, I have focussed on rail (Underground/DLR) links.  Worthwhile to remember that London has a very good bus transport network too.

Happy Investing!
