Article on wives and diplomacy by Prof Tommy Koh.  What an illuminating article, on the role of wives in the diplomatic circle.  The work of a diplomat is a lot about 'guan xi' - who you know, who you have access to and whether these people want to entertain you in the first instance.

It does sound like Mrs Tommy Koh is a very established and out-going person herself, not to mention a fantastic cook.  She can gain access to these women's clubs and rub shoulders with some of the most powerful women or wives of powerful men, in America.  Mrs Koh was so successful she could even get elected as president of her club.  Amazing stuff.

Kudos to the wives of diplomats in serving Singapore.
