Why Germany banned Uber and fears Google

I don't know much about German economics and politics other the fact than Germany is the most powerful country in Europe, has a famous female Prime Minister (Chancellor Angela Merkel), and makes great cars.

So I was quite surprised to read this. Germany has banned Uber, but Uber is defiantly operating in Germany. Germany is also very afraid of Google.

Why is this the case?  Sounds like the very concept of Uber and Google threaten the deep fabric of German society.  Hmmmm.  Maybe the Germans are not that open after all.  They still want a big state and they want the state to look after them.  In Germany, the state rises during hard times. Interesting.

 Thanks for reading.
